Sean Burke, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Orange County alum Braunwyn Windham-Burke, is taking all the blame after the couple was sued over back rent.
The father-of-seven told Page Six in a statement that his estranged wife “is not involved in this matter at all.”
“It has been made clear repeatedly that I am in control of all financial matters, which includes rent. We were both unaware of a civil case filing until it was published online.”
Sean told Page Six that “this is a matter of a maximum $7,500 discrepancy, due to the substantial security deposit held.”
Sean added that he finds the situation “unfortunate” but “is seemingly easy to reconcile and resolve.”
He also filed paperwork with the court Friday asking the judge to toss the suit.
As previously reported, Braunwyn and Sean were hit with an eviction lawsuit last week. Their landlord claims the couple has refused to pay their $15,000 a month rent and wants them out immediately.
The landlord says Braunwyn leased the 5-bedroom, 6-bathroom, nearly 8,000 sq. ft. pad in January 2020. They agreed to pay $15,000 a month in rent for a one-year and six-month lease.
However, despite numerous demands for payment, the landlord says the couple has refused to pay the back rent.
The legal matter came a day before Braunwyn announced she was temporarily separating from Sean after 26 years of marriage. She said, “We are packing up this house, the one we filmed last year, and we are moving. We have decided jointly that we are going to take a few months apart."
