Brittany Cartwright Says Her Mother Sherri Cartwright Is ‘Doing So Much Better’ After Life-Saving Surgery!

Brittany Cartwright, the wife of Vanderpump Rules star Jax Taylor, recently shared an update on how her mom, Sherri Cartwright, has progressed in the wake of her emergency surgery and stay in an intensive care unit.

In an Instagram post that featured a photo of the mother-daughter duo, the 31-year-old began by expressing her gratitude for “everyone who has prayed and sent best wishes.”

Brittany also confirmed that her mother “has made an amazing recovery and is doing so, so much better.”

“For those of you who don’t know her story, she went in for a bladder surgery, stayed a couple nights in the hospital and was sent home. She was feeling horrible and days later she was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery,” she explained. “Her 45-minute surgery turned into 4 1/2 hours. It was the scariest moments and a horrible time to be so far away in California.”

Brittany continued, “We found out after that they had tore her bowel during her bladder surgery, they didn’t notice and she had gone septic. The emergency doctors were amazing and they literally saved her life. She fought on life support for a couple days and woke up days later with no idea what had happened to her.”

She concluded by acknowledging how “amazing” her husband was during the scary time. “He came right to KY and helped us through everything,” she added. “I love you, honey! Hug the ones you love and hold them tight! You never know what could happen. I am very thankful right now.”

The news comes after Brittany shared a photo of her mother Sherri in June via her Instagram Story, writing: "Please keep my beautiful mom in your prayers." On Saturday, her rep revealed via a statement that Sherri was hospitalized and remains in an intensive care unit.

"Brittany's mother is currently in the ICU due to serious complications from bladder surgery," the rep told PEOPLE last month. "Brittany has been beside herself and asking for prayers. She is planning to go to Kentucky to be by her mother's bedside next week - it's been complicated having visitors at the hospital due to COVID-19 which has been very difficult for Brittany and her family."

The family’s pastor Ryan Dotson revealed via Instagram on June 18 that Sheri was "out of ICU, in a room and improving daily."

Fans first learned of Sherri's hospitalization after their family's pastor shared the news on Facebook.

"I would like to ask all my friends to please pray for my friend and church member Sherri Turner Cartwright. She had to have an emergency surgery after having a scheduled procedure that went bad. She’s in ICU and things are uncertain, so please join us in prayer for Sherri and believe God for her full recovery," he wrote on June 10.

In March, Sherri said she would be undergoing surgery on her bladder. "I'm having bladder surgery March 30 and off work for 8 weeks. So I'm flying to LA for recovery to stay with Jax [and] Brittany," she tweeted at the time. "Can’t wait to see them and my Vanderpump moms. Please keep me in your prayers."

Thankfully, last month, Brittany gave a health update on her mother by sharing a photo of the two pictured together wearing face masks as Sherri was heading to her doctor's appointment. The Bravo reality star revealed that her mom was “doing great,”
