Meghan King Edmonds' estranges husband Jim Edmonds is opening up about their divorce and allegations that he cheated on his wife with the couple’s nanny. “It’s dangerous, irresponsible and hurtful to all to allow a rumor to be spread to the world because of insecurities,” he told Us Weekly.
Earlier on Saturday, he’d shared a post on his Instagram Stories that appeared to be about his split, writing, “No one can throw a bigger tantrum than a narcissist whose [sic] losing control of someone else’s mind.” He later shared an illustration of a woman angrily pointing a finger at a man with the words False Accusations Allegations at the bottom.
Shortly after, the former athlete took to social media to slam his estranged wife for “disgusting and irresponsible” allegations that he cheated on her with their nanny in a lengthy statement on Monday, October 28, via Instagram.
“** BREAKING NEWS ** It’s one thing to be accused of something. It’s another thing to be so negligent and so careless, and ruin the lives of innocent young people.. I did not sleep with our nanny,” Jim wrote alongside a photo of an old magazine cover from his baseball days. “She’s not just a nanny, she is someone that we brought into our house and promised to protect and look after while she was in our home. We have been treating and raising this young girl like she is our own child. For someone to accuse me of sleeping with her is not only wrong, it’s disgusting and irresponsible.”
He continued: “Just because I am an athlete and I was portrayed as a bad person on bravo TV. Doesn’t mean I dont have a clue what life is all about.”
“We made a promise to that young girls mom, that We would take care of her and make sure that she was safe while she was in our hands. I will not sit here and take this bulls—-t without fighting back,” Jim wrote on Monday. “Just because you’re extremely witty and intelligent, and know how to play the Instagram game. Doesn’t give you the right to use that platform to wrongfully accuse. Not only is it irresponsible. It is dangerous and puts my family in harms way.”
“We all make mistakes. This is not one of those times,” he concluded. “My heart is broken for everyone involved. if you get anything out of this post. Get the truth.”
Meanwhile, his daughter Hayley Edmonds, who appeared with Meghan on Season 10 came to her father and the nanny's defense.
“I’ve been waiting for it. For probably … three years?” the 22-year-old told Us Weekly about the split. “I think it’s impossible to be happy with someone so … I don’t know if I would say narcissistic but, she, like, creates her own problems and loves conflict and things like that. The selfishness is miserable for anyone to be around, let alone to be married to her. My whole family has grown closer because we have all had to stay silent in hopes to protect my dad and no one can do it anymore.”
“I will say I didn’t look the best when I was on the show, but I got so much scrutiny from the way that she portrayed me like I was stupid and I didn’t care about anything,” Hayley told Us Weekly about her stint on the series. “In reality, like, I dropped out of high school to take care of my sick mother and she came in and completely manipulated me to get on the show and told me I was making it harder on my mom to be there and I was giving her anxiety and I needed to live with Meghan and give my mom less stress.”
Meghan and Jim, who tied the knot in October 2014, are parents of daughter Aspen, 2, and 16-month-old twin sons, Hart and Hayes. In addition to Hayley and Lauren, Jim shares daughter Sutton and son Landon from his second marriage to Allison Jayne Raski.
“I have a good relationship with Allison and her husband, my sister and I both do. The way Meghan treats my dad’s mom is disgusting. And we’ve all just had to sit quietly and I’m just done with it,” Hayley told Us Weekly, claiming that Meghan blocked her grandmother on Instagram. “It’s a bummer. Because my grandma just wants to see pictures of her grandkids and she had to get them sent to her every day. It just really bummed her out. That really sucks.”
