I have been so busy trying to get everyone adjusted to life with a new baby brother that a girls trip is exactly what I needed. D’Andra threw a fabulous pajama party for the launch of her new Ultimate Living and Hard Night Good Morning products. If you give me a reason to wear a onesie in the middle of the day, I am there! We were greeted at the door with a death threat from Mama Dee, but I knew she had good intentions behind her message. She would do anything to protect her daughter as I would do the same. It is not easy to go against the grain or turn your back on Dallas “society”—trust me, I’ve been doing it for years, but some things (and people) are not worth losing sleep over.
I am so proud of D'Andra for making no apologies about being her self, owning her truth, and being who she truly wants to be. I will always support someone who wants to be exactly who they are, because that is who I am!
I think that my face said it all when Mama Dee told me that LeeAnne was now adding the term “alcoholic” to the long list of words that she already uses to describe me. And then on top of that, I find out that she also told Cary at another event that I am an “alcoholic” too? That is a new low, even for LeeAnne!
The fact is this: The legal side of our adoption with Bruin was not yet complete, and it was going to take a few more months at that point to become official. Spreading around a rumor that I am an “alcoholic" could have greatly affected the legal process. We were under a very close microscope while the adoption was being finalized. We could have potentially been denied by the courts if she spread this rumor far enough. And for what? So that LeeAnne could tarnish our reputations around town? You can say what you want about me, but when it starts affecting my family, I draw the line! My kids and my husband are my entire world, and to think that someone could possibly affect that for me brings me to tears. The wrath of Mama Dee wouldn’t compare to her worries if she had my baby boy taken away from me. Know that your actions have reactions and affect more than just the people you are trying to hurt. Is she still confused as to why I don't want to be her friend?
Unfortunately, Bryan and I already had a prior commitment planned for the night of Stephanie and Travis’ vow renewal, but nothing was going to keep me from being there for the beautiful bride on her special day, so I did my best to celebrate with her as long as I could. I remember Stephanie and Travis' wedding 10 years ago like it was yesterday! I am so grateful for the 10+ years of memories that Bryan and I have had the privilege of making with Stephanie, and Travis and I can't wait for many more to come."
