"Calling all Real Housewife lovers!

I’m Melissa Tkautz, I’m an actress, a singer and a Real Housewife of Sydney! Oh, and this is my first blog post….ever!

What a ride it’s been already and we are only up to episode 3! Filming began in the second half of 2016 and to say it was a little frightening is an understatement! I’ve never done a reality TV show so this was very new to me. Whenever I’ve been on set in front of a camera it’s always been playing a character, I had lines to learn and I was never playing me. RHOSydney has truly lifted the veil and it’s reality TV at its best!

Meeting all the women for the first time was exciting and frightening at the same time. I remember thinking how wonderfully cast the show was, all the women are so different, with different beliefs, backgrounds and ambitions and I think that’s key to why the show is so entertaining.

By now you would have met all the ladies in episode 1 and shared all the drama of Nicole’s welcome back party. It was filled with champagne, laughs, dramas and a cape that truly stole the show ….just another night in Sydney! 🙂

Episode 2 kicks off with an all-white themed lunch where drama, name calling and catfights were definitely on the menu! Athena then let loose on Matty and attacked her line of work…. Wow! Now into episode 3 and Matty is quite upset over the whole matter. She decides not to attend Athena’s Greek party and felt as though Athena owed her an apology and I have to say I agreed. Athena profusely stated that she did apologize but as you have seen it was more an invite rather than an apology. I did feel what Athena said to Matty at Victoria’s lunch was insulting and backed Matty 100% for not turning up.

I’m sure many of you watching the episode were thinking the same as me….is this really happening? The answer is a very definitive yes! What a frustrating conversation! I’m never going to be the one that picks a fight, that’s just not who I am. That being said, if I see or hear something I don’t agree with I’m certainly going to stand up for what I believe is right. That’s the reason why I decided to stand my ground and show support for Matty, I did not agree with the comments Athena made to her and I had to say what I thought was right.

Chatting with Matty and getting to know her was brilliant. I love that beautiful lady!
Telling her about my experiences in the industry was really good for me to do as it allowed me to give her an insight into my world and what I had gone through. Yes ‘Nikki Spenser’ started it all for me back in the 90’s with ‘E-Street’ and that show gave me the platform to release my very first single ‘Read My Lips.’ When I look back to that time of my life I remember it being such a foreign experience, I came from a very strict family and literally went from watching ‘E-Street’ at home to being cast on the show and suddenly thrusted into the public spotlight.

When I think of having over 25 years in the industry I love I’m still grateful for all the work I’ve been able to do. The entertainment industry is not an easy gig and I feel very blessed to have been able to keep working over the years in many TV dramas, comedies and films whilst constantly releasing music and performing across the country. It’s true what they say….love what you do and do what you love!

Filming the film BOAR last year was an amazing experience, the director Chris Sun is an absolute horror legend so working with him alongside a cast of iconic actors on such an epic Australian film was an honour and I’m so excited for the film to be released later this year.

No doubt you saw Matty singing ‘Read My Lips’ on the show – how hilarious! She is one funny housewife! To be honest, I’m not sure what was funnier, watching that on TV or knowing that she sang it for the entire 14 weeks of filming! Haha

I’m so thankful for all your kind messages and support over the last 26 years and I’m thrilled you are loving the show – I’m really proud of it and can’t wait for you to see the rest! 26 years of life in showbiz and with no detonators in site – I’m a part of my favourite TV franchise… The Real Housewives of Sydney….and I couldn’t be happier! XO"
