Real Housewives Of Sydney Star Melissa Tkautz Opens Up About Her Battle With Depression!

Actress and singer turned reality star Melissa Tkautz is opening up about her battle with depression. The Real Housewives of Sydney star revealed that at her first taste of fame left her so depressed that she couldn't leave her house.

The 43 year-old E-Street soap actress, said she the “surreal” time when Read My Lips hit the charts in 1992 saw her seek professional help.

“I did battle with depression at times, just because it was so full on so quickly,” Tkautz told The Daily Telegraph. “I had a very strict father and I just wasn’t allowed to do anything.”

“I wasn’t even allowed to sleep at a friend’s place and all of a sudden, I am in night clubs doing appearances, walking down red carpets, cameras flashing in my face, people saying this that and the other. It was a lot to deal with.”

She continued: “It was hard. I did go through periods where I became very introverted and I didn’t want to leave the house.”

But the mother-of-two said she isn’t worried about returning to the spotlight on The Real Housewives of Sydney. “I know who I am as a person and I’m settled in my own skin,” she said.
