Dorit Kemsley Explains The Origins Of Her Accent And How She's Adjusting To Life Since Joining RHOBH!

Dorit Kemsley's accent has been a controversial topic during this season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. During a recent interview, Dorit explains the origins of her accent and how she's adjusting to life since joining the Bravo hit reality series.

"I think the way I speak is probably a combination of many things. First and foremost, I am married to a Brit who's got a very, very strong London accent, and I'm sure some of his inflections have sort of rolled over on me," she told The Daily Dish. "My parents are not American. I was born and raised in America. I did spend a significant amount of time, nearly 10 years, back and forth going to Europe. I spent a lot of time working all over the world and in various places of the world where people didn't speak English all that well. I had a tendency to over enunciate, so I think at times some of my English is part that and part inflection. And you know being around a lot of Europeans and a lot of Brits, you just become a product of your environment really. That's who I am. That's the way I speak. I don't hear it. My husband doesn't hear it but it's definitely become a topic of conversation."

Dorit reveals she speaks multiple languages. "My Spanish gets very confused with the Italian because they're so similar and I speak better Italian than I do Spanish. But I spoke Spanish before Italian," she said. "So there's the Hebrew. My father's Israeli but I wasn't raised speaking Hebrew, and I wanted to learn when I was a teenager so I would insist that my father would only speak to me in Hebrew."

Dorit even has a few new languages she is eager to get under her belt. "I would love to learn Chinese, which is very difficult," she said. "French, I think, is my next one because I love it. I can understand it, but I can't really speak it. Oh and then there's just so many others I'd love to learn."

So how is Dorit handling life since joining RHOBH? "I think much like going through life in the world and in relationships, you're going to have those you connect with immediately and those [that are] more challenging," Dorit told The Daily Dish. "Coming in as a new person to a group of women is always going to be a little bit difficult and you can always assume you're not going to be best friends with everybody. I connected with Kyle [Richards] very quickly and then our friendship just sort of grew. And she's a barrel of laughs; we have so much fun together. Lisa Vanderpump and I were friends before I did the show, so that was great to be with her. And then the other women, we had some really great moments and some challenging moments. We sort of duck and dive through those through the season."

One of the most unexpected moments came when Dorit, Lisa Rinna, and Eden Sassoon discussed Xanax smoothies during a night in at Eden's pad. "First off, I have to tell you it was one of the funniest nights I had ever had," Dorit said. "It was 8 o'clock at night making smoothies. It's not something that's very typical in my life or my home. And then the conversation, it just passed on and Rinna had said, oh she'd pop a Xanax in there. And then when Eden had said, 'Oh I do that,' I mean, it was a bit shocking and then it was all in great fun and for laughs. Rinna pulled out her bag of pills and we all had a laugh about it. I think it was all in good fun... I think that in this day and age people will take something to calm themselves down or they say something like that in jest and it shouldn't be taken so seriously."

As for living her life for all the world to see, well, she's still getting used to that. "I would say I'm probably adjusting day-by-day," she said. "It's a process, but it's been an unusual process and my husband and I were both prepared for it. We kind of said certain things are going to come with the territory and we will brace ourselves and come together close and tight like a family."
