Teresa Giudice's Husband Says His 41-Months Prison Sentence “It’s Not A Big Deal” — Joe Hopes Prison Will Be Alcohol Rehabilitation!

Teresa Giudice's husband Joe Giudice will begin serving his 41-month prison sentence for fraud on Wednesday, March 23 but the Real Housewives of New Jersey dad plans to make the most of his prison time by focusing on a "rehabilitation" program for alcohol.

"I'm looking at it like rehabilitation for me," Giudice tells People. "I am not going to be able to drink for a while which is good because I don't even know when it's been since I haven't had a drink. It's been a long time."

The 43-year-old father of four, who makes his own red and white wine, admits his habit isn't healthy.

"Definitely the whole year I drank every day a couple of bottles at night just to go to bed," he says.

With the stress of his wife Teresa being in jail combined with caring for the couple's four daughters alone and his reality television lifestyle, Giudice's drinking has continued to increase.

"For a solid year with all this TV crap and socializing with people every day and going here and there you are constantly drinking, so it will probably do me good," he says of going to jail.

"Going to the doctors and getting a check-up, my liver is still in good shape, and I don't know how that is."

While Teresa, was aware of her husbands heavy drinking, she was never concerned that he was unable to properly care for their four daughters – Gia, 15, Gabriella, 12, Milania, 10 and Audriana, 6.

"He wasn't driving," she says. "He was never driving, he was always home."

Now as she prepares to say goodbye to him in the days leading up to his prison term, she is optimistic he will come out a healthier man.

"He's gonna get into – God willing – the right alcohol program," she says. "I want him to do a program, let's just leave it at that. He's not abusive or anything, thank God, but he drinks every day. That's not good. It's not good for your liver."

As the reality TV dad is about to face 41 months in prison, Joe Giudice has an interesting perspective about his prison sentence.

"It's not a big deal," Giudice tells People. "They tell me that the low security and the camp there are almost the same so it's no big deal."

Although he's losing his freedom, Giudice says it won't be all that bad.

"It's a military camp is what it is," he says. "It's not a high security, and anybody that's in there is basically people that have already served a lot of time basically working their years to get out. So once you are there if you screw up there, then you go back to high security."

In October 2014, Giudice was sentenced to serve 41 months at Federal Correction Institute, Fort Dix in New Jersey for fraud charges.
