Jennifer Aydin opened up about the off-camera moment she had with Real Housewives of New Jersey co-star Danielle Staub that led to the demise of their relationship.
During a recent appearance on The Rumour Mill podcast, Aydin revealed that she had learned from a stylist that Danielle’s real name was Beverly, which she ended up asking Staub about her former alias.
“We were talking and I brought it up. Something had happened and she said, ‘Oh now you know everything about me.’ And I turned around with my silly, charming self. I was like, ‘I didn’t know your real name was Beverly,’” Jennifer recalled, according to a report by Reality Blurb. “And her face turned stone-cold, looked at me and said, ‘Who told you that?’ When I told her who told me, she took out her phone, she started voice texting. ‘You piece of sh*t. Send. Mother f*cker. Send.’ I was like, ‘What did I do?’ I didn’t know [it] was a secret.”
She continued, “The way she just jumped down my throat…I felt it was a very hostile and aggressive situation.”
She added, “I just was dumbfounded because I’m like, ‘There are no cameras rolling. There’s nobody here to protect me.’ And then she was like, ‘That was the name my mother used to call me when I was raped.’ I got the memo at that point that she has triggers and trauma that maybe can make her a dangerous person [and] I knew I [wanted] nothing to do with her.”
In January 2020, Staub officially announced her departure from RHONJ during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, adding that she will “never be returning as a housewife again.”
“I will be never returning as a Housewife again with the Jersey girls,” she told Andy Cohen. “I have, over the past 12 years and 10 seasons, been a part of this whole franchise and I’ve been very happy to rally and stand on a platform and be here with all of you. But it is time for me to leave and do something that I want to do that makes my heart happy every day.”
Danielle originally starred on RHONJ as a full-time Housewife for seasons 1 and 2. After rekindling her friendship with Teresa Giudice in 2016, Danielle returned in a “friend” role for seasons 8, 9 and 10.
