Emily Simpson Slams Braunwyn Windham-Burke For Physically Abusing Her Husband Sean Burke! Plus Braunwyn Denies Kelly Dodd’s Claim That She Was Put On 5150 Psychiatric Hold; Sean Comes To His Wife’s Defense!

Emily Simpson slammed Braunwyn Windham-Burke after she admitted on the most recent episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County that she had hit her husband a few times.

Simpson took to Twitter on Wednesday, December 9 to slam Windham-Burke. “Tonight on #RHOC, Braunwyn excuses her behavior by acting like a victim of the people and circumstances around her, not to be confused by previous episodes where she excused her behavior by acting like the victim of the people and circumstances around her.”

Some commenters took issue with her opinion, pointing out that Braunwyn is newly sober.

“That’s very nice of you guys to say about someone clearly dealing with s—t… s—t none of y’all are dealing with,” one fan wrote, according to Us Weekly. “Congrats on being heartless bullies nobody said Braunwyn is perfect- she’s wrong a lot… but she has a reason. I don’t judge or add negativity. I support/love.”

Simpson replied, “I support love too. I don’t support physical abuse, let alone in front of children.”

After another commenter wrote that Simpson has “zero understanding [of] what she is going through and zero room to judge,” she responded, “A parent striking another, and in front of kids? I’m going to speak my opinion.”

If you recall, Braunwyn admitted in the episode that she hit her husband of two decades after he made fun of her for not being able to get the vacuum cleaner to work amid coronavirus lockdown.

“I lost it. I lost my temper again,” she admitted. “Sean belittled me over the vacuum cleaner. It’s not working. I can’t get the charger to work… Instead of helping, he made fun of me. And I lost it and I smacked him. I haven’t done that since we were in Aspen [on vacation, three months earlier].”

The mother-of-seven admitted that she got angry with Sean in the early stages of her sobriety journey and had hit him “a couple of times in my life but nothing like what happened in Aspen.”

“I hit him across the face and I hit him hard,” she admitted. “I wanted to go drink. I was angry and I was lashing out … I feel trapped in my house. I feel trapped in my marriage … Emotionally and physically.”

Meanwhile, Braunwyn responded to accusations that her costar Kelly Dodd made about her mental health.

Dodd slammed Windham-Burke in multiple tweets on Sunday, December 13. While some of the posts are still visible on her account, she deleted one tweet that claimed her castmate was on a 5150 psychiatric hold.

“I am not going to be blamed for her mental disorders, alcoholism, cheating, violence, & her children being depressed,” she tweeted, according to a report by Reality Blurb. “She’s been in a 5150 hold.”

On Tuesday, December 15, Windham-Burke took to her Instagram Story to address the claims. “Good morning. So once again, I’m waking up, reading some stuff and honestly, there’s certain people I work with that I’m shocked how much they get away with,” she said in the video clip. “How many lies they’re allowed to tell — how it seems like nothing really happens.”

She continued, “I just want to clear something up. I’ve never been on a 5150 hold. That’s a lie. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. You know, when I needed help 10 years ago, I checked myself in [for treatment]. So that’s a different situation. But, 5150 holds are good for people who need them. There’s no shame in that. There’s no shame in mental health issues.”

After Windham-Burke spoke out, Dodd hit back at her co-star’s claim by tweeting: “You said it on camera at Lake Arrowhead. The others heard it too. Lying then or lying now? Pick one.”

Dodd also deleted a tweet that referenced Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Taylor Armstrong, who accused her late husband, Russell Armstrong, of abuse during the show’s earlier seasons. Comparing the Armstrongs to Windham-Burke and her husband, Sean Burke, she tweeted: “Haven’t they learned anything from Taylor Armstrong’s late husband? Clean up your own house. Get help. Stop blaming others.”

Braunwyn’s husband came to her defense in a message that was captured and shared by Instagram account, Reality TV and Me.

“She is an amazing person and mom. If she wasn’t I wouldn’t be here for so many years and children. I am so happy she is sober. The first couple of months of sobriety suck. And that’s what the world saw. It’s so so much better now,” he wrote.

“Since they both happened right at the onset of sobriety, and never before or after, I really feel like it was the alcohol disease and not her,” he continued.

“It was her absolute low, and her reminder that she can’t drink. I have it in that context. She really should have gone to detox/rehab. Instead of doing this on her own with toxic castmates trying to get her to drink instead of supporting her,” he wrote.
