The Daily Mail reports that a third murder suspect is due to be flown to the UK and is being accused of murdering Real Housewives of Cheshire alum Missé Beqiri's brother, Flamur “Alex” Beqiri, a court heard today.
Estevan Munizaga is to be flown from Sweden to Heathrow Airport in connection with the murder, the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales (The Old Bailey) heard.
Tobias Andersson and Anis Fouad Hemissi both from Sweden, have already been charged with his murder.
Andersson also appeared at court today via video link from HMP Wandsworth following his extradition to the UK from Sweden last week.
Catherine Farrelly, prosecuting, alleged that Andersson met with alleged gunman Anis Fouad Hemissi in the days leading up to the murder.
She claimed Andersson flew to Britain to provide Hemissi with a disguise and firearm. Hemissi, from Malmo, and Andersson also from Sweden, are both charged with murder.
In addition, last month Clifford Rollex of Islington, North London, was charged with perverting the course of public justice in connection with the murder. He was bailed to next appear at Wood Green Crown Court on November 30, the Metropolitan Police said.
Ms. Farrelly said of Andersson: “The prosecution say he essentially was part of a lengthy operation and his role was to assist Mr Hemissi in organising and executing the offence in person. This person arrived in the UK on 16 December last year.”
She added: “There is another further defendant who is to be extradited from Sweden tomorrow, Mr. Munizaga.”
When Munizaga arrives in the country tomorrow he will be formal charged with murder, the court heard, reports The Daily Mail.
Hemissi denied murder and possession of a handgun earlier this year. Meanwhile, Andersson is being charged with murder and faces a plea and trial preparation hearing on January 26, 2021.
As previously reported, Beqiri was gunned down outside his £1.5million home in Battersea, South West London in front of his wife and young son on Christmas Eve.
A month later, Anis Fouad Hemissi was arrested and extradited to the UK after police arrested him at Copenhagen Airport on a European Arrest Warrant on January 20. He's been charged with murder and possession of a firearm.
Hemissi was held under a European Arrest Warrant at Copenhagen Airport at the request of Scotland Yard after arriving there on a flight from Thailand.
Hassimi is from the Swedish city of Malmo, where Beqiri fled in 2016 after receiving death threats, The Sun reported.
“A 22-year-old man was arrested at Copenhagen Airport, Denmark, on 20 January on a European Arrest Warrant on suspicion of the murder of Flamur Beqiri,” The Metropolitan Police said in a statement in January 2020. “He remains in custody in Denmark pending extradition proceedings back to the UK.”
In August 2020, Hemissi denied murdering Beqiri. The 23-year-old kickboxer appeared at the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales (The Old Bailey) to deny the murder and possession of a firearm.
He was remanded in custody ahead of a three-week trial to take place on July 12. Catherine Farrelly, prosecuting, told the court Hemissi flew into the UK four days before the killings.
“The sole purpose of his trip was essentially to execute the deceased. The prosecution say this was an organized hit,” she said at that time, according to The Sun. “Within an hour of the hit taking place, he then flew out of the country and flew to Copenhagen.”
A police spokesman said that three men arrested in Sweden on October 8 are all subject to the extradition process through the Swedish judicial system. The men are aged 22, 31 and 33 and are all Swedish nationals.
Beqiri was a Swedish citizen of Albanian origin who had left Malmo for London nearly five years ago.
