Shamari DeVoe recently appeared on Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast, where the singer and actress reflects on her time at The Real Housewives of Atlanta. If you recall, DeVoe joined the eleventh season of the Bravo hit reality series.
Shamari shares how she was asked to join the show. "The producers have literally stopped me for two years prior to that and wanted me to be on The Real Housewives of Atlanta," she said. "So I finally
said yes, because they wanted me to come when I was pregnant with the boys. And I'm like, nah, I'm not gonna do that."
"So after I had the babies, I said, yes, I was like, I went on there and it was amazing. That is a
major freaking platform to be a part of like, it's incredible."
The Bring it On actress admits that she was shocked at the amount to exposure the ladies get when they become part of the Bravo hit reality franchise.
"The amount of notoriety you get from being on that show. Yeah. I was definitely shocked. I was like, wow, like you can see how people get on that show and they can do anything they want."
She continued, "Oh yeah. Your to - your going to definitely get everybody to buy your clothes. If you got some weed, you know, they're gonna buy your weed. Like whatever it is you want to do get on Housewives of Atlanta and your going to do it. You and you will succeed at it."
DeVoe then dishes on the Real Housewives fandom. "When I was on season 11, when they were showing it like way more people were coming up to me, Blaque, Oh my God," they wouldn't even go up to my husband and be like, 'Oh my God."
She recalls how much her fanbase changed before and after appearing on RHOA. 'It used
to be in Atlanta. 'Oh my God, you're Ronnie DeVos' wife,' but then Real Housewives of Atlanta. 'Oh, you're Shamari." So that platform is freaking huge."
DeVoe reveals that her husband Ronnie found it funny how fans would gush about him being Shamari's husband when she joined RHOA. "Like he would just come back and tell me, and we would just laugh about it. I mean, we thought it was great," she told podcast host Yontef.
Would Shamari ever consider returning to RHOA? "I just feel like the whole editing thing is just, you know, when you don't have control over what is being seen and how you're being portrayed as a person in life, we have, we have balance, we need balance. Like we have our good days and we have our bad days, but when, you know, they're constantly just, you know, magnifying the, Oh, Shamari is, you know, whatever showing up at her house, you know? Okay, cool," she added. "But there's also other parts that I showed that they didn't show, like the fact that I had a couples 'Cocktails and Conversation,' bringing couples together and helping them to reaffirm their love for one another and saving families, but they didn't show that part."
