Leah McSweeney Says Dorinda Medley Is “Not Thrilled” About Her RHONY Exit But Claims She’s “Also Relieved In Some Ways”; Says “She’s Going To Be Fine”

Leah McSweeney reveals how she feels about Dorinda Medley's announcement that she's leaving The Real Housewives of New York City after six seasons.

“I was definitely shocked, but at the same time I feel like anything goes,” McSweeney said on SiriusXM’s “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” according to Page Six. “Nothing should shock you because at the end of the day everyone is just as good as their last season.

“You never know if you’re on the chopping block or not.”

McSweeney acknowledged that Medley had “a difficult season” but still was surprised by the news.

“Obviously, she had a difficult season, so I guess it’s not that shocking,” McSweeney continued, “but at the same time, it is because she’s beloved and she’s great on TV. She’s great TV, but unfortunately for whatever reason, she’s not going to be on this season.”

McSweeney revealed that she spoke with Medley over the phone after the news broke that she wasn't returning for Season 13, as multiple outlets claim Medley was fired from the show.

“She seemed great. She seemed OK,” McSweeney recalled. “She was just being very honest about the whole thing like, ‘Look I’m not thrilled about it, but I’m also relieved in some ways.'”

McSweeney added, “She’s going to be fine.”

On Tuesday, August 25, Medley announced that she was leaving the RHONY after six seasons. “What a journey this has been. I have laughed and cried and tried to Make it Nice...,” she wrote via Instagram.

“But all things must come to an end. This was a great outlet for me to heal when my late husband Richard passed away,” she continued. “I have met so many interesting people and learned so much about myself, about life and about women along the way.”

She continued, “Thank you to Bravo and NBC for the incredible ride and to my cast mates for constant stimulation and entertainment. I wish you all health, happiness and success. Clip!”
