Mo’Nique Shuts Down Rumors That She’s Joining RHOA To Replace NeNe Leakes; Says “NeNe Leakes Is Irreplaceable, NeNe Leakes Is The Real Housewives Of Atlanta”

Mo’Nique took to Instagram to address recent reports claiming that she's joining the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta to replace original cast member NeNe Leakes. The Oscar-winning actress and comedian denied the claim while praising Leakes' role on the Bravo hit reality series.

“I [wasn’t] gon’ say not a damn thing ’cause I knew it was a damn lie,” she told fans during an Instagram Live on Wednesday, according to Page Six. “But … I … it keep on going and going and going. ‘Mo’Nique, are you doing ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and replacing NeNe Leakes?’

“Let me let it come straight from my mouth. No, my sweet babies, I am not doing ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and in my humble opinion, NeNe Leakes is irreplaceable. NeNe Leakes is ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ if you ask me, baby; that’s been 13 years. So no, I am not joining that cast. Though, I respect all of those sistas. They do what they do and I am not replacing NeNe Leakes.”

In the comment section of Mo’Nique’s post, Porsha Williams and Basketball Wives alum Tami Roman commented on the topic.

Porsha wrote, “Dang, well let’s have both honestly.”

Tami commented, “Mo would have been [a] great addition but no one can replace Nene, she’s right.”

Speculation around Mo’Nique being cast for the Bravo hit reality show began shortly after a report by MTO News claimed the Precious actress would be joining the series with husband and manager, Sidney Hicks.
