Joyce Giraud Reveals She And Husband Michael Ohoven Were Friends With Taylor Armstrong’s Late Ex-Husband Russell Armstrong Prior To Joining RHOBH!

Joyce Giraud recently made a surprising revelation when she made an appearance on David Yontef's podcast, Behind the Velvet Rope. Giraud shared that prior to joining The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, her only connection to the series was Russell Armstrong, who is the late ex-husband of former cast member Taylor Armstrong.

"I was actually friends with Taylor's husband. May he rest in peace," Joyce said. "I remember we were at a mutual friend's dinner party at their home in Beverly Hills and he was there and he was asking my husband for some advice. He was like, what do you think about [reality television]?"

Joyce claims that Russell asked her and husband Michael Ohoven, "What do you think about this? Because there's this new reality show that they're offering Taylor. So what do you think?"

"So we were just, you know, normal talking and she was super sweet and she's, she's adorable," Joyce said of Taylor.

Joyce went on to say that she likes Taylor "very, very much."

"She was super sweet. We were just normal talking. That's the only thing I heard about the show before it came out, then when it came out, I wasn't really watching it. You know, I wasn't really a fan of the show and, but... I would always see Lisa from time to time because they were super close."

Taylor was a full-time housewife from season 1 to season 3 and made guest minor appearances throughout the next three seasons. Russell committed suicide as he and Taylor, who he was accused of domestic violence abuse, put an end to their marriage.

In August 2011, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Richard French confirmed “that Mr. Armstrong was found dead from an apparent hanging in a residence on Mulholland Drive.”

According to Los Angeles Coroner Assistant Chief Ed Winter, Russell was pronounced dead by paramedics at 8:16 p.m. “There was no suicide note found,” Winter told PEOPLE.

Taylor has since moved on and married her attorney John Bluher - they recently celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in April.

Joyce also shared that she met Lisa Vanderpump a few times at Mohamed Hadid's home prior to joining the show. "We weren't friends. We had never, you know, we were introduced, just, 'Hi, nice to meet you.' But we weren't friends or anything," she said.
