RHOJ ‘Friend’ Lerika Kleinhans Reveals Why She Will “Never Do TV Full Time”; Says South African Celebs Are “Underpaid” And “Undervalued And That Needs To Change”

Lerika Kleinhans, who appeared as a "friend" on the first two seasons of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg, took to Twitter to reveal why she will never appear on a South African reality series in a full-time capacity.

"The reason I will never do TV full time is because south African stars are underpaid PERIOD .I really loved my experience on #RHOJ and the producers put up an amazing two seasons . Especially my bestie @ChristallKay however SA celebs are undervalued and that needs to change," she tweeted.


She continued, "Now in the middle of the a pandemic you see American TV stars who work as hard as SA TV stars sitting in their 30 million rand mansions and our celebs are claiming to be struggling etc ..when they work the same hours #lockdown2020 #AKAVsSizwe"


She added, "I've been in 7 different sectors of business including commodity trading which I'm now really making the most money in and it's a 24/7 job but TV/entertainment is by far the hardest I've ever had to Work in my whole life !!! #AKAVsSizwe #paysacelebsmore #AKAVsSizwe #rhoj"


In March, Kleinhans was asked if she would join RHOJ full-time during an Instagram Q&A session, Lerika replied, "Don't worry fam we all working on our own projects."


She added: "I'm just so grateful to God for all the opportunities past present future."

The Real Housewives of Johannesburg made its debut in August 2018. The first series consisted of six ladies: Brinnette Seopela, Christall Kay, mother and daughter, Evodia and Mercy Mogase, Lendy Ter Mors, and Naledi Willers.

However, the series returned for a second season with a major cast shakeup - Seopela and Kay were the two only original cast members that returned to the series. They were joined by new cast members Lebo JoJo Gunguluza, Lethabo Mathatho, Mpho Merriweather, Mpumi Mophatlane, and Tarina Patel.

In April, Evodia "Madam" and Mercy Mogase got their own spin-off series, the series premiered on Wednesday, April 8 at 8:00pm on Mzansi Magic.
