"👉🏾the world is changing right in front of us. I can’t ignore that — especially while asking you to buy my song. "I always knew that I wanted to do a song to pay homage to the city that raised me and that I adopted when I moved here," Bassett told WUSA9. Basset, who grew up in Atlanta, said, "I moved to D.C. in 2005 to go to Howard University, and D.C. did a number on me as far as growing me up."

"My sister is an educator in DCPS, and I have many friends who are educators in DCPS, so I've heard from them about the ways they've had to adjust to struggle, and the ways that a lot their students, parents and families are struggling to do this distance learning,," Bassett said.

She added, "$50 is enough to buy a Wi-Fi hot spot for one family, so you can do so much with not a lot."

The go-go song is a remix of a love ballad she wrote to her husband, Chris. Bassett worked with Grammy-nominated producer Chucky Thompson and WHUR's DJ Iran to produce the track.

‘I See You (Remix)’ is now available to stream and purchase on all digital platforms, such as iTunesApple MusicAmazonSpotify and Google Play.
