“Way out of line, way douche-y,” he said of his behavior at Jax Taylor’s birthday party, according to PEOPLE. “I was hammered. We’d been drinking all day, which is usually a recipe for disaster within the confines of our relationship.”
Schwartz said Katie’s response to the practical joke “rubbed” him the wrong way. “I don’t know, it’s something about the way she responded that rubbed me the wrong way. I tried to explain to Beau the next day — first of all, I know I was wrong — but at that moment I saw her as the embodiment of a YouTube commenter, recreational outrage,” he said.
Ultimately, Schwartz agreed that his reaction was uncalled for and apologized to his wife.
“I’m so sorry! I’m sorry, I love you,” he said. “I was way out of line.”
If you recall from Tuesday night's episode of the Bravo hit reality series, the couple found themselves at odds after Schwartz began berating his wife — in front of their closest friends — for failing to find humor in a practical joke. After Tom Sandoval was fake-arrested as part of an ongoing prank war, Katie voiced her disapproval.
“This s— is actually annoying to me,” Katie told the group, adding in a confessional, “Like, turn on the news.”
Schwartz then told his wife to “shut up.” “You’re ruining a great moment. We’re laughing,” he said. “Nobody gives a s— about your opinion.”
“I’ve never been more turned off in my life,” he added. “That’s why I don’t have sex with her.”
Tom continued his tirade against Katie as he pretended to throw up at the sight of her while also calling her an “idiot,” “moron,” and “gross.”
“That's another two months we're not having sex,” he said. The exchange left Katie in tears.
