Vicki Gunvalson has finally launched her own podcast called Whoop It Up with Vicki. Gunvalson, who is known as the OG of the OC shared behind-the-scenes secrets from her time with The Real Housewives of Orange County during the premiere episode of her new podcast.
“You film hard for four months,” Vicki revealed, according to Reality Blurb. “You have Sundays and Mondays off but every other day they have access to the calendar.”
Vicki claims that she and her co-stars would film one-on-one or two-on-one scenes on weekdays. On weekends, they would attend group events with the entire cast where producers would fill them in on what others were saying about them and encourage confrontations, reports the publication.
“[They’ll say], ‘Kelly said this about you,’ and then when you get to the all-cast party, you have to go confront her,” Vicki explained. “The producers have an incredible way to create a story… How they got us to pit each other up against each other was very interesting.”
“It’s not that we have a script to follow, because we don’t. We just go on our own emotions,” she continued. “Bravo knows I’m emotional. If someone talks bad about my children, my company, my integrity, I’m going to go ballistic. I’m going to bring out a can of whoop-a** and I’m going to defend myself. That’s when you see me screaming.”
Vicki then opens up about her feuds with Braunwyn Windham-Burke and Kelly Dodd. According to Gunvalson, their feud was real but it claims it was also fulled by production. She claims that ahead of Season 14 of RHOC, Braunwyn was told by producers, “When you get to see Vicki for the first time, you should be upset with her about how she treated Kelly.”
“When she told me that they told her to be upset with me on how I treated Kelly, I was like, ‘You weren’t even part of that situation. You don’t know how Kelly treated me.’ That’s how they can pit one up against one another without you even knowing,” Vicki said, according to Reality Blurb.
Vicki also revealed that producers allegedly encouraged Kelly to continuously refer to her as a “pig” because they knew it would get a reaction from her on camera. “I gotta believe Kelly was asked to keep calling me ‘Miss Piggy.’ I asked her off camera, ‘Do you really think I look like a pig?’ She goes, ‘No, they wanted me to say you look like Miss Piggy,’” Vicki shared.
Vicki also recalls a past visit she did to Evolution Media offices - she claims that she discovered the area where producers create storyboards for the cast.
“There must have been 20-40 people typing out every single word we [said] and [creating] a storyboard from our own reality. That’s how they created our story,” she shared, adding that she was told not to talk about what she saw.
