7 Fun Facts About RHONY’s Newest Cast Member Leah McSweeney!

Leah McSweeney is the newest cast member to join the season 12 cast of The Real Housewives of New York City. Here are seven fun facts about Bravo's newest reality star courtesy via Us Weekly. Check them out below!

1. She’s a Mother
Leah is the mother of 12-year-old daughter Keir. “The fire in my heart burns for her smile, laugh, beautiful eyes, her touch and hugs, her old soul,” she wrote about her child in a May 2016 column. “She has an intensity in her eyes that intimidates me from time to time, only because I know I can’t tame it. She tells me how it is; that I can’t cook, I’m on my phone too much, our apartment should be bigger, and that I’m not that cool. Oh, she also says I look good for my age, but not young for my age.”

Keir’s father is a man named Rob. Leah wrote that the couple split when their daughter was 1. “She has the gift of drawing and creativity from her dad; She can be introverted and shy like him too,” she penned. “Not too quick to make new friends but loyal to the ones she has.”

2. She’s Friends With Tinsley
Leah was friends with Tinsley before the cameras started following her life. “With the help of Tinsley, Leah has found a new group of friends, but her outspoken nature proves to be too much for the ladies to handle at times,” the press release reads.

3. She’s Going to Stir the Pot
According to Bravo’s press release, Leah’s “not afraid to speak her mind, which at times causes friction, especially with Ramona and Sonja.”

Dorinda also got in her face in the teaser.

4. She’s Sober
Leah once revealed that she got sober when Keir was 2 years old. “The worse thing was I had become a kind of mother I never ever imagined myself being. I was withdrawn, distracted, depressed and addicted. Looking back now I see I needed to go through this nightmare to come out on the other side of things,” she wrote in 2016. “I needed to come close to losing my daughter, I needed to have the Earth shaken under me to have a complete spiritual experience that led me to the 12-step program that ended up saving my life, and my business. And gave me the gift of motherhood.”

5. She’s Close With Luann de Lesseps
Post filming season 12, Leah has clearly bonded with Luann. “The Denise to my Brandi 🤣👯‍♀️💦 #DateNight,” she captioned a photo of the two women, referring to reports that RHOBH’s Denise Richards and Brandi Glanville hooked up in the past.

6. She Once Publicly Argued With Michael Che
In addition to her fashion line, Married to the Mob, Leah has a podcast called “Improper Etiquette.” During 2017 episode, Leah slammed Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che for his dating habits after they matched on a dating app.

“I met a comedian, I’ve dealt with a few comedians. They are the worst, I don’t even know why I entertain this but I have to say … Michael Che is so arrogant and so rude and disrespectful that I cannot even believe that someone,” she said. “You’re like a D-list celebrity to me, whatever, that’s why I don’t even care that I’m saying his name. I’m not like blowing up Jay Z’s spot.”

Leah continued: “He kept just texting me, going, ‘I’m fat. Does that turn you on?’ And I’m like, ‘you’re fat? I think I’ve seen you and you’re not fat, OK.'”

Che fired back by sharing his messages with Leah with Page Six. While they certainly chatted, the comedian appeared to stop answering Leah and told her he didn’t want to meet up.

“U don’t ask any questions. Ur so odd,” Leah wrote, to which Che replied, “You got that from 8 innocuous texts?”

“Do u ever want to meet up? Or r we just gonna text each other randomly until eternity? Well I did think it was odd u kept saying ur fat,” she fired back.

He replied: “I [don’t] wanna meet up. You text really strange declarations looking for a reaction, and I don’t wanna know what’s the real life equivalent of that.”

Their message exchange ended with Leah sending Che her podcast about him.

7. She’s Been on TV Before
Leah made her Bravo debut in 2010 on an episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker. She also made a cameo on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York.

McSweeney was announced as the newest cast member of RHONY in November during BravoCon’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen taping. She’ll be joining returning Housewives de Lesseps, Dorinda Medley, Tinsley Mortimer, Ramona Singer, and Sonja Morgan.
