Margaret Josephs has been hit with another lawsuit. According to court documents obtained by The Sun, Capital One Bank sued the Real Housewives of New Jersey star on December 5, 2019, for over $12, 172.86 in unpaid credit card bills.
“Defendant failed to make periodic payments on the Account, which was subsequently charged off,” the lawsuit obtained from Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County read.
“The entire balance on the account is owed to Plaintiff and is presently due and payable in full.”
The court papers continued that Capital One has demanded payment of the credit account, but Josephs allegedly “has failed and refused to remit same.”
In addition to the judgment, the Plaintiff is asking the Bravo reality star to pay court costs. A summons was mailed to Margaret on December 9, 2019. The case will default on January 16, 2020 unless otherwise notified.
During a recent episode of RHONJ, Josephs got candid about her financial issues following a legal battle with company Vineyard Vines, who sued her company Macbeth Collection for trademark infringement back in 2014.
“I’m coming off a rough couple of years,” she explained on the episode. “I had a horrible lawsuit with Vineyard Vines... They accused me of stealing their logo, which I did not do.
“I settled for around $300,000 because I could not afford to go to trial,” she continued. “I filed for bankruptcy in my business. They put a lien on my property. I’m up to my eyeballs in legal bills.”
