Rost said she and Jesse, whose last name has not been revealed, had a conversation right before Thanksgiving about what their future holds, but they appeared to be on different pages.
“He wanted certain things right away, and I was just, like, I have so many other things that I need to focus on, and so I need to pause,” she said.
The former model said in the new year, she may finally make some headway in her legal battle with her ex-husband, Dr. James Orsini, over the custody of their three children. Rost said that was also part of her decision to break things off with Jesse, so she could move back to the East Coast to be near her kids since she’d been living in L.A. with him.
“I have the appeal that apparently they’re going to read it, finally, in January,” she told Page Six. “It’s taken so long, but I feel like I just need to be here, closer, and be able to do whatever I have to do next with that.”
Rost claims Jesse was more focused on wanting to start his own family with her, and so she told him, “Oh, I have to deal with the children I already have.”
“I can’t do that again, so I needed to just wait,” she said, adding that she is also focused on her writing projects. “I just don’t know if I want to go into straight-up wife mode right now.”
“He does speak to me through my mom,” Rost shared. “He’ll send her a message and is like, ‘How’s Katie doing?’ She kind of gives him updates. I feel like if we were to talk, we’d end up right back together.”
Rost is open to reconciliation in the future with Jesse but is also keeping an open mind when it comes to dating. “I think I’m good with just doing what I’m doing. I mean I’d go out on a date, but… don’t get me in trouble,” she said with a laugh.
