Zago shared a video of his proposal on Instagram. In the clip, the Mynt nightclub owner can be seen driving in South Beach with Delgado sitting in the passenger seat.
“Romain is about to propose to his girlfriend,” a text reads over the clip. “Carolina thinks that she’s out for lunch with Romain.”
Everything seems to go smoothly until all of a sudden a Miami Beach Police car appears behind them and demands that Zago pull over.
When the officer approaches Zago’s vehicle, he asks for his license and registration. The officer Romain that his license is suspended.
“Oh, that was taken care of sir,” Zago tells the officer in the clip.
“You sure about that?” the officer says before asking Zago to step out of his car.
As the two men walk to the back of the vehicle, the officer can be seen subtly handing Zago a little box as he “arrests” Zago.
After watching Zago be placed in handcuffs, Delgado gets out of the Range Rover and can be heard telling the cops, “But it was taken care of!”
The policeman proceeds to tell Delgado that driving with a suspended license is a criminal offense and that Zago will be taken into custody, reports PEOPLE.
Then, the officer tells Delgado that she’s free to leave with the car, but she has to tell Zago goodbye.
Then, Zago surprises Delago as he gets down on one knee.
“You’ve got to be kidding me Romain! You don’t do that!” Delgado says.
“Oh my God, I got so scared,” Delgado says before playfully kicking and hitting Zago.
The two then share a sweet kiss and Delgado embraces her engagement ring.
“SHE SAID YES!!! Just over a year ago, Carolina @carolinadelgadofit asked me if Mynt was open on a Thursday evening. Had I known she was gonna come so beautiful, irresistible & charming, ready to Hunt 🏹 me like a Trophy 🏆, ready to make me happy, ready to send me 180 roses after our first week together,” Zago captioned the clip. “I would have probably been so nervous that I would have f— everything up… By then, I didn’t even know I was ready to settle down again and there I was… smiling like a 12 y/o.”
“So to make our engagement a bit special, I made sure to reach out to our friends in the @miamibeachpd w #ElpidioGarcia & @Eliocruz4, and give her the same surprise & feeling I felt just over a year ago when she first came to meet me,” Zago wrote. “To my now fiancée Carolina, I thank you for rescuing me, for making me happy & for showing me what life can be all about,” Zago concluded.
As for Delgado, she also shared the happy news writing, “YES, I DO WANNA MARRY YOU 💍 @romainzago I chose you long ago, I chased you, I sent you flowers, and I hunted 🏹you ✔️ Here we are; 14 months later planning our future together. It has been a “not so easy road”, but the obstacles that were presented in our path, made us learn from our mistakes and also made us grow stronger than ever. You made me realize how wrong I was all the times I used the “I love you” quote in the past. Now I know what true love is thanks to you.!,” she wrote.
“Even though you are a little “crazy” and you have way too much imagination 😈(if you know what I mean) I love you more than anything and I’m ready to make each other happy.! There’s no one in the world more perfect for me than you.! PS: Not so easy dude... LET’S SET THE DATE 👰🏼🤵🏻.”
