Christine McGuinness Opens Up About Helping Tanya Bardsley Through Her Depression!

Christine McGuinness reveals how it was to stand by her Real Housewives of Cheshire co-star and bestie Tanya Bardsley through her battle with depression as seen during the show's last season. “I understand mental illness quite a lot,” she told the Manchester Evening News.

“I have been there myself with anxiety and depression. I know how it feels - certainly after I had children.”

“She was having a difficult time and she tried to come off the meds and that didn’t do her any good. Seeing Tanya in that way really touched me. I would never want anyone to feel like she felt,” she continued. “But on the first episode, I was delighted to see our Tanya’s back.”

Christine also weighs in on the feud between Tanya and co-star Hanna Miraftab over a meme as seen in the Season 9 premiere episode.

“I don’t think it was helped in between the series when Hanna uploaded the meme on social media - that started everything up again. It was quite cruel to be honest. Tanya is quite within her rights to be upset with Hanna,” she told the Manchester Evening News.

“Tanya’s just trying to stay in a happy place and it’s hard to do that when she’s around people that she doesn’t get on with. But I guess it’s part of being a reality TV star.”

Christine, who is returning as a guest on the show for a third time reveals why she will appear less this time around compared to past seasons.

“I have done less this time because my husband is so busy,” she explained. “For me it works really well doing bits with the show.”

“It’s a bit of fun for me outside my own real life. I try and fit it in during the school hours, I’m grateful I can do it,” she added. “I have stayed away from the drama, I don’t like it, I try to just have a good time, and I continue to support Tanya.”
