Shortly after, Ashlee took to Instagram to thanks her friends, family and fans for the well wishes she and her husband have received and explains why the couple decided to elope instead of having a big wedding.
"Thank you all so much for the overwhelming amount of love and support we’ve been receiving from our friends, family and followers! Only our parents have known about our plans, and they were luckily okay with the idea," she wrote.
"Pete and I were going back and forth for a long time about whether or not we should have a big wedding or just elope. Even our elopement plans kept changing once we decided that’s what we were going to do. Pete and I feel like we’ve been married for years already. We’ve been friends since 2010, had a beautiful child together, and have been living together since 2016. We weighed our pros and cons and decided that we would rather just save the money and put it towards our future together. I figured if City Hall was good enough for Carrie Bradshaw and Big that we could make it work. 😜 I wanted simple and affordable. Nothing fancy, just love."
She added: "That being said, I would really appreciate it if all the social media keyboard warriors would just accept that instead of trying to belittle me or scold my parents on our special day. This is what we wanted. Please respect that. Today was a very happy day. And at the end of it, we’re all feeling incredibly grateful and blessed. Thank you! 🖤 Love, the Malleos."
Ashlee's proud mother Jacqueline congratulated the couple on Instagram. “I couldn’t be more thrilled for them. May they have a beautiful life together! A.M./P.M. Congratulations! Love you both! #Family 8-8-2018,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Holmes’ aunt and former RHONJ star Caroline Manzo also took to Instagram to congratulate the happily married couple. “Wishing my niece @ashleenicholemua and nephew @c3peteo a lifetime of love, health, and happiness as they start their journey as newly married husband and wife! Congratulations! Love you both! Xoxo,” she wrote.
Holmes and Malleo got engaged in New York City in February 2016, which was seen in Season 7 of the Bravo hit reality series. One month later they announced that they were expecting their first child together. In August of that year, they welcomed son Cameron Hendrix.
Congratulations to the happily married couple for their special day!
