Eileen Davidson Is Leaving The Young And The Restless After 36 Years!

Eileen Davidson, who stars as Ashley Abbott on the CBS soap series, confirmed the news on social media on Wednesday that she is leaving The Young and the Restless in September after 36 years. “Yes I am leaving my second home @YandR_CBS in September,” wrote the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum.

“I’ve been so blessed to be able to play Ashley Abbott and work with the amazing people on the show and have nothing but gratitude and love for all!!!” she continued.

She added of her exit, “Time for a little more control over my day to day!”

Davidson has starred on the show since 1984 and has appeared in nearly 1,500 episodes, according to her IMDb profile, reports PEOPLE.

Back in April, Eileen took home the Emmy for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series" for her role as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

This is Eileen's second Emmy. In 2014, Eileen won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Kristen DiMera on Days of Our Lives.

"This is awesome," she said in her speech. She also reportedly thanked her Y&R family and her mother-in-law for giving birth to her real-life husband, Vincent Van Patten.

Last year, the daytime soap legend walked away from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills after appearing on the Bravo hit reality show for three seasons due to her hectic schedule.

“After a lot of careful thought, I’ve decided because of my crazy schedules at The Young and The Restless, as well as Days of Our Lives, it’s best for me and my family if I step away from being a Housewife for now,” she announced in a statement.

“But you never know, I might be popping in from time to time just to see what the ladies are up to!” added Davidson. “Thanks for your love and support guys!!!”

Eileen appeared on RHOBH from Season 5 to Season 7.
