Jules Wainstein’s Estranged Husband Michael Could Face Jail Time Over $135K Unpaid Child Support!

And the legal drama continues between Jules and Michael Wainstein! After failing at two chances to pay over $135,000 in child support and other expenses, the estranged husband of former Real Housewives of New York City star Jules Wainstein was ordered to go a contempt of court hearing — at which he could wind up in jail, reports Page Six.

“You should be prepared with your defense,” Justice Michael Katz told Michael Wainstein at a hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court Thursday. “You’ve had two tries and i’m not convinced [you have] an ability to pay.”

The order for the hearing, which is to occur next month, came after Jules’s lawyer, Allan Mayefsky, complained that Michael has been a deadbeat mama’s boy, spending his parents’ money on lavish trips to Florida, dinners and other expenses, instead of providing for his two children, 3 and 5.

“He comes up with money when he needs it for his own purposes,” Mayefsky said. “He flies to Florida, has all sorts of expenses, dines out. Recently he threw a birthday party for his son, which was very nice … I don’t deny that, but when can’t pay the court’s lawyers, one would think you had some priorities here.”

The publication reports that the judge also ordered Michael to pay $45,080,75 in legal fees, to which his lawyer, Morghan Richardson griped, “He doesn’t have a lump sum of $50,000 sitting around.”

Richardson argued that her client has been making payments when he has the money, including for things like Con Ed bills and his kids’ after school. She also disputed the total sum owed as being $73,000.

But Justice Katz wasn’t having it: “It is my observation that when it’s important for your client to come up with the money he’s able to come up with it. You say it’s from his parents but his parents give him money for the things that are important to him. He hasn’t demonstrated that complying with my orders is important to him.”
