Mona Scott-Young To Executive Produce Xscape Biopic!

The ladies of Xscape are ready to bring their story to life in an upcoming biopic. Deadline reports the '90s R&B girl group has teamed with Mona Scott-Young and Monami Entertainment for an authorized film featuring the group's original members, who include The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss as well as Tameka “Tiny” Harris, and sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott.

The news comes as the group plans to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut single "Just Kickin’ It" as well as the album Hummin Comin’ At Cha they also revealed plans to reunite back in March. TV One recently announced an unauthorized biopic premiering in the fall, which Xscape has called “disrespectful and disappointing.”

Deadline further reports that they Monami and Xscape are currently shopping the biopic to networks and t that there is a possibility of the group also filming a docu-series about their reunion.

“We are excited to join forces with Mona Scott-Young and Monami Entertainment to bring the real Xscape story to the world,” the group said in a statement. “This partnership will allow us to tell our story about our lives the way we lived it. It’s our truth about the rise, the fall, and the return of Xscape. We feel the recent announcement of an unauthorized biopic on our lives is disrespectful and disappointing. We are not, in any way, participating in that project and it will never ‘represent’ our true story.”

“Xscape has had a huge impact on music and are one of the most successful female groups of all time," Mona added. "Monami Entertainment is honored to be charged with bringing the authorized Xscape story to the world.”
