Despite their strained relationship, Caroline Manzo is showing support for her sister, Dina Manzo, following her violent home robbery in Holmdel, New Jersey last weekend. "I hope the police get to the bottom of this and whoever is responsible for this gets what's coming to them," the former Real Housewives of New Jersey star recently said in a statement to E! News.
Regardless of the family drama, the whole family has rallied around Dina during this time. Dina and Caroline's brother, Chris Laurita, also told E! News that he spoke to Dina on Monday, two days after the incident. "She is obviously shaken by the whole thing. She's back in California now and seems to be OK," he said. "It's unfortunate what happened. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it."
Dina has since returned to California, where she has been living, Caroline's husband Albert Manzo also reacted to the news, calling the incident "so tragic." “Everyone is shocked by the sheer horror of it,” he told PEOPLE. “I am glad they are well enough to fly back.”
The robbery occurred on Saturday, May 13 around 11 p.m. after Dina and her boyfriend, David Cantin, celebrated Audriana Giudice's First Communion, PEOPLE previously reported. The couple found two assailants inside the townhouse they share in Holmdel, who then reportedly rushed them as they open the door. One hit David with several times with a baseball bat, while the other punched Dina "multiple times" in the face, according to a release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, as reported by PEOPLE.
Dina and David were then tied up, and the suspects took cash and jewelry. “Dina and David are obviously shaken up from the traumatic and violent home invasion and robbery,” the couple's attorney, Andrew B. Brettler, said in a statement to PEOPLE. “No one should ever have to go through what they did. They are grateful to law enforcement and the other emergency responders and appreciate everyone’s concern and well-wishes.”
Hopefully this unfortunate situation beings the family back together again.
