Bethenny Frankel's Ex-Husband Jason Hoppy Arrested And Charged With Stalking And Harassment; Bethenny's Lawyer Alleges She Was Subject To ‘Bullying And Torment On An Almost Daily Basis’ By Ex!

Bethenny Frankel’s ex-husband Jason Hoppy has been arrested for allegedly stalking and harassing the Real Housewives of New York City star. Hoppy was arrested on Friday after Frankel claims he threatened her after showing up at their 6-year-old daughter Bryn’s school.

“The complainant said Hoppy had sent numerous emails and FaceTime calls numbering in the hundreds after a cease and desist letter was sent on Nov. 22, 2016,” an NYPD tells People.

“On Friday, Jan. 27, [Hoppy] approached [Frankel] and a friend at her child’s school at around 8:15 a.m. and tried to provoke a fight,” said the spokesperson.

According to the spokesperson, “He said, ‘I will destroy you, you can get all the lawyers you want, you’ve been warned.’ “

Hours later, Hoppy was arrested and charged with harassment in the first degree and stalking in the fourth degree.

Hoppy denies the charges, and his attorney Robert C. Gottlieb tells People of the incident: “There are no words to express how saddened Mr. Hoppy is over his ex-wife’s unjustified actions. His only concern is his daughter and intends to vigorously fight these false charges.”

Frankel’s attorney Barry Zone issued a statement to the publication: “Ms. Frankel’s decision to report Mr. Hoppy’s abusive behavior followed years of systematic bullying, harassment, stalking and torment on an almost daily basis.”

The statement alleges that “Mr. Hoppy has sent hundreds of escalating texts and emails to Ms. Frankel, her assistants and her boyfriend, demanding that she meet with Mr. Hoppy unnecessarily, stating that ‘I’ll never go away’ and that ‘[y]ou left me no choice but to go to extremes,’ claiming that her ‘definition of harassment is comical’ and that he will ‘continue to communicate with [her] as [he] see[s] fit,’ requesting copies of her life insurance policy, and telling her that ‘I’ll pray for you.’ ”

According to the statement from Zone, “These acts of mental and psychological abuse are domestic violence, pure and simple. No woman, celebrity or not, deserves to have their allegations of such abuse taken lightly, and we are grateful to the NYPD for their immediate action to protect Ms. Frankel.” (According to legal documents, there is no evidence of physical abuse.)

Following Hoppy’s arrest, a judge issued an order of protection — a.k.a. restraining order — against him at his arraignment, according to People.
