Eden Sassoon made her debut on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills as the cast's official "Friend of the Housewives," and so far the daughter of haircare legend Vidal Sassoon seems to be seems to be handling things quite well. The #RHOBH friend recently opened up about joining the Bravo hit reality series and how she's fitting in with her co-stars so far.
"They were like, 'You're absolutely fabulous and we love you!'" she told The Daily Dish. Eden, who owns a salon and two Pilates studios, was raised in Los Angeles and said she had crossed paths with several of the Beverly Hills ladies before even they were on the show.
"Lisa Rinna was a two degrees of separation at all times; Lisa Vanderpump knew my father, and I obviously knew of her; Kyle and Kim [Richards], we grew up in the same — you know, L.A.’s a small place to grow up. And then, the social scene in L.A., you can’t really get away from too many people," she shared.
Eden admitted that she didn't really keep up with RHOBH over the years, explaining that since the series has been on the air, she's gotten married, had two children, gotten divorced, and lost her father.
"And I'm single," she added, "so there wasn't a lot of time for me to watch TV all the time. And when I did watch TV, if I put on something that was feeding into the energy that I'm trying to heal, it was not a good idea. Of course, I don't live under a rock and know what Housewives is and what it kind of brought. But it was something that I didn't necessarily want to be a part of or watch, which is really interesting today, because I find myself sitting back thinking, you know, sometimes when you resist something, it's exactly what you need."
The idea to join the show had come up a few times, and one day it just felt like something Eden was ready to try.
"Being the woman I am today, being able to bring me to a situation that might need my energy, I find myself saying, 'All these times you thought how do these women do this, that, and da-da-da, and look at you now — you're right there in it!'"
After taking the plunge to do something so different for her, Eden found an ally in a Housewife with whom she found she could instantly communicate without using words.
"Erika [Girardi] was the one who, a couple times here and there, she would give me the rundown, but a quick one in Erika's way and just kind of gave me that look, and [I thought], 'I get it, I’m on it!' No one said, 'You'd better put your life jacket on, you’re going to sink or swim there, get your s*** together here because it's coming fast!'
Whether the overall goodwill lasts is something viewers will have to wait to see, but Eden hinted that the waters might be a little bumpy for her up ahead.
"At this point in the season I feel great, and then I start to feel more and more and more," she confessed. "You can’t really point the finger at anyone — I guess I can point the finger at myself. My being emotionally open and available and wanting to be a peacemaker could possibly not be the easiest thing to do in this little world. It is what it is and it definitely makes people. . . I'm excited to watch, how about that?"
