Katie Maloney-Schwartz Reacts To Scheana And Mike Shay's Divorce: “None of Us Saw It Coming”

Last week it was announced that Scheana Shay and Mike Shay decided to call it quits and filed for divorce after two years of marriage. Scheana's friend and Vanderpump Rules co-star Katie Maloney-Schwartz recently reacted to the news and reveals how Scheana is hold up during this difficult time.

"She has been very strong and very mature about it all," Katie told The Daily Dish, with her husband Tom Schwartz adding, "I think both of them have."

The Vanderpump Rules pal continued that while the divorce came as a surprise, the crew is now rallying together. "None of us saw it coming. I don't think that even she did," Katie said. "I think it just got to a point where it was just the best decision for the both of them. And she has a very healthy perspective on it. And I just have been trying to encourage her and be there for her emotionally or just to kind of distract her, keep her busy just having fun." But, Katie notes, Scheana is "handling it very well on her own, I will say."

The couple also appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Monday where Tom added that the split news "came out of nowhere." He further explained that "we were blindsided. You never know what's going on behind closed doors. they seemed happy from outward appearances."

Katie added, "We all thought they would be together forever."

Scheana and Shay's 2014 wedding ceremony was captured in Season 3 of Vanderpump Rules. The series has followed the highs and lows of their relationship, from their engagement to dealing with Mike's substance abuse issues last season.
