Last Wednesday evening, Scheana was informed that a close family friend who was like an uncle to her had passed away. Shortly after learning about the death, Mike left for band practice, according to the source. While on his way home, the musician asked his wife if she needed anything while he was out, but when he didn’t arrive home two hours later, Scheana texted him. Although she got a sort response from her husband that evening, Scheana did not hear from him for the next six days.
In the days that followed him going out on Wednesday night, Mike made charges on the couple’s credit card —which Scheana cut off after she didn’t get a response from him — and proceeded to empty out their bank account, the source tells the publication.
On Sunday, the couple briefly met for the first time in-person, during which they chose to dedicate time to themselves individually moving forward — and decided to live separately for the indefinite future.
“They both have agreed to focus on themselves for the next few months and then reevaluate early next year and see if their path is still meant to be together,” the source says of the duo tells People. “There is no talk about divorce at this time, but they will not be living together indefinitely.”
“Shay is not sober anymore as he claims and he has been struggling with his sobriety lately, which has caused concern among his friends and family,” the source tells People of Shay’s current state.
But on Monday afternoon, Mike took to Instagram to address reports that he was missing — and address claims about his sobriety.
“I am not missing. I am sober. I am Happy!!! Don’t believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us!” he posted on Instagram.
Shortly after, Scheana also took to Instagram. “Looking into the future! The truth will come out this season on #PumpRules so stay tuned!” she captioned a photo of herself that she tagged her husband in.
The source adds: “She just wants him — whether they’re together or not — to be happy and healthy and get the help that he needs, if he needs that help. It’s unfortunate that his family isn’t helping to address those issues.”
However, according to Radar Online, the marriage is far beyond repair. “Mike found out some things about Scheana on Wednesday, and was furious,” a family member reveals to Radar, adding that the musician — is now staying with relatives.
“Right now, the marriage is beyond repair,” the insider says, adding that neither side has drawn up divorce papers just yet. “They both need to make a decision on the future of their marriage, but no one has made a move at this point.”
Mike’s struggle with sobriety has been featured on the Bravo reality series in past seasons. Months after tying the knot in July 2014, Scheana revealed that her husband’s drinking had increased and he’d started to mix prescription drugs with alcohol – sometimes taking as many as five pills a day.
The source also tells People that the couple has picked up filming and the drama will unfold on TV at the end of season 5.
