RHONJ newbies Dolores Catania and Siggy Flicker share their thoughts on the two frenemies' relationship. "The way I feel about Teresa and Jacqueline's relationship is that I think there was a lot of miscommunication about a lot of things and it built up," Dolores Catania told The Daily Dish. "And it was like in a relationship when there's a lack of understanding about the other person's way of handling things or coping. There's a lot of miscommunication and that's been their issue the whole time and my job was, which may have been a little late but who knows what things will happen? But my job was to try and explain to Jacqueline that it's never personal."
Dolores has been friends with Teresa for over two decades, and she hoped to leverage that experience with her as a way to get Jacqueline to understand her better, noting that Teresa isn't always an open book when it comes to sharing her life experiences. "We were both raised very much alike," she said. "Teresa and I were raised in a home where you just pick up and get over it. You brush yourself off. There's no time for crying. No one's going to sit and talk about what's going on. So as an adult, you have a hard time articulating your feelings and you have a hard time explaining what's going on in your head and your gut 'cause you were really never allowed to. Now here's Jacqueline who wants to talk about everything. She's an open book — that's how she gets through things."
At some point the duo became "frustrated," Dolores explained, adding "one thing led to another and just over the years it's just built up. People get divorced; friends get divorced. It doesn't mean they're not going to be in a relationship to some capacity. It doesn't have to be what it was."
Like Dolores, Siggy Flicker recognizes it might be a while before the twosome ever fix what's broken between them. "I'm a relationship expert and for my whole life I've always wanted to bring people together," she said. "Now I don't have unrealistic expectations. Some people don't belong together. You can lead a horse to water. I can't make the horse drink the water."
With all that in mind, the relationship guru hopes they can bury the hatchet. "That's a 13-year friendship. That's history beyond history," she said. "They had children together; it's a love-hate relationship. It's a sister relationship. And, although, I feel for right now they need to be apart, I have hope that one day in the future I can possibly bring them back together."
