Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker welcomed their first child, Ace Wells Tucker on January 6. However, their road to becoming parents for the second time wasn’t easy for the Real Housewives of Atlanta couple. “We really worked hard for him,” Burruss, who struggled to get pregnant before turning to IVF treatment, tells People. “It was a long process and lots of needles.”
But after bringing Ace home from the hospital, Burruss and Tucker — who are already parents to Riley, 13, and Kaela, 19, their respective daughters from previous relationships — say their newborn son had them feeling like first-time parents.
“It’s like starting all over,” says Burruss. “We were like, ‘Which bottles do we use? What diapers do we buy?’ Simple stuff that you would think I already know and I don’t. It’s silly.”
While the pair may have had a few questions about taking care of their new addition, the reality stars knew exactly what they wanted for his nursery décor.
“We wanted a safari theme because we met in Africa, but we didn’t want it to be over the top,” says Burruss. “It’s safari chic,” adds Tucker. “Safari clean.”
Now that the family of five is settling into their new routine, the couple couldn’t be happier at home in Atlanta. “I always wanted a boy so we were super excited because we have two girls and they give us much attitude,” Burruss jokes. “We were looking forward to having a boy.”
On Wednesday, the 39-year-old songstress posted a photo of Ace asleep beside his TV producer father Todd Tucker, with the caption: “Love my daddy!”
She then posted a second photo of her little one wearing sunglasses. I wonder if they're Cynthia Bailey Sunglasses?
