Bravotv.com: What is Kairo up to now?
Sheree Whitfield: Kairo is currently keeping busy in college and learning how to navigate life with his newfound freedom and independence! I am so proud of the man he is becoming and couldn't be happier for him.
Bravotv.com: Did you think Kim Fields was being disrespectful?
SW: I wouldn't say that Kim was being disrespectful, but I do feel she was a bit inconsiderate. I say this because Phaedra took the time to coordinate this trip. Kim was there in body but not present in spirit. I feel like she missed a beautiful opportunity to connect with the mothers of these victims and share in their powerful stories of overcoming adversity.
Not many people have the opportunity to sit with members of congress and discuss what can be done to affect change in our communities. If Kim would have been considerate, she would have made the necessary arrangements to have a nanny, family member, or sitter assist on the trip. As a single mother of three, I know firsthand what it is like to travel with children, so if I couldn't get help, I probably would have stayed home and left the opportunity open for someone who could have experienced it with their mind, body, and soul.
Bravotv.com: What was it like being at the Million Man March?
SW: Being at the MMM was truly a transformative experience. Not only was I able to witness and take part in history, but I was also able to share this experience with my son. For him to be able to see us all come together, united for social justice, and hear the stories of these mothers really meant a lot to the both of us. I definitely hugged my son a little tighter that day!
