Lisa Vanderpump is taking to her Bravo Blog to dish on this week's episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Lisa Vanderpump explains why she believes in tough love when it comes to her kids. Lisa writes:
"Well, here we are. It was pretty gentle episode for me this week. Max came to the house after a conversation and to my dismay he enlightened me he had borrowed his girlfriend's car and maybe wasn't insured (it transpires he was, but for a moment my heart leapt).
I have nagged him over the years, but he has to decide what he wants for himself and...yes, I am well aware that he had had his electricity cut off from not paying his bill. Now I know that is inconvenient, but tough love, cold showers, and lighting a candle will suddenly bring the slow realization that I am not going to pick up every bill. I help with the rent, but a few extra shifts will do him no harm whatsoever. I want Max to be ambitious, and not because I think finances are of utmost importance, but pride in what you achieve is paramount, but I see now that he has an older girlfriend there is pressure from another direction.
My bills were not paid after I left school, and it certainly ingrained in me a strong work ethic. Pandora, although valedictorian, worked her way through college. They grew up with horses and yachts and lots of wonderful things that we worked for, but I always stressed to them I will only support them until school finishes. Of course they still enjoyed the fruits of our labor when they come home on weekends and holidays.
Love to see sweet Bella in New York and am definitely happy to see how seriously she took this situation. The letter was so poignant. It was a mistake, and she learnt from it. Yolanda has to be proud.
Isn't that what life and this episode is about? Learning, experiencing, and saying goodbye, albeit temporarily. Kyle with Alexia realizing that this is it...I understand all the tears having experienced them leaving, but after a few years, you will be crying when they move back! They are going to college, not war!
Preparing our children then nudging them out of the nest and hoping they fly, watching them with bated breath, watching them walk the tightrope of life and making sure you are there to catch them if they fall.
I loved seeing all the segments with Lisa. She has such a sense of fun, pokes fun at herself, which I always enjoy, but yes, Lisa, we adore costume jewelry maybe even more than the real stuff--less pressure.
I don't quite understand the motivation for Brandi watching her ex-husband and his new wife on their show. I would prefer to take the dogs out of the crate and have them on the bed and not dwell on the past. It seems almost like torture and giving it too much importance. I don't think I would invest so much in their lives if my children weren't appearing on the show.
Anyway, I rejoiced in the fact that for the first week there were no snarky comments about holding a grudge or not issuing an invitation! So next weeks episode heats up a little, and things change direction, so keep watching.
As always, Love, Lisa."
