Much like the video, the song was inspired by Gia's real-life journey. "My voice teacher and I sat down and we just basically like poured out our thoughts," she shared with Access Hollywood. "It was really just a song based on my experience and what I'm going through, and it was really just me and her like really writing it out and just expressing ourselves," she added. "I just want [my fans] to know that I'm okay, but also give them a little input of what I'm going through."
In addition to using music to help her through this time, she's also been getting support from her groupmates, Alexis Mattea and Cristianna Cardinale. "I mean honestly, it's amazing to have a support group, knowing that they're going to be there for you no matter what," she explained. She also credits her father with keeping her strong in her mother's absence: "My dad has been amazing. Like, he's honestly the rock. He's helping us so much."
