Giudice plead guilty to bankruptcy, mail and wire fraud in order to illegally obtain millions in loans. Before sentencing, Joe read a letter to the judge.

“I stand here humiliated before the court and my family and society,” he said. “I disgraced many people, including my wife and four daughters. I take full responsibility for my actions. I promise to be a better person.”

As she sentenced Joe Giudice, Judge Salas said, “What you did in this case doesn’t define you as a man.” The sentence also comes with 2 years of probation and the possibility of deportation, which will be decided at a later date.

RHONJ star Teresa Giudice has been sentenced to 15 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Esther Salas. Teresa Giudice was sentenced to 15 months in prison, which will begin Jan. 5. The judge said she will not serve her sentence at the same time as her husband, for the sake of their children. Her sentence also includes two years of probation and $414,588 in restitution payments.

Teresa will be serving her time first, followed by her husband who is still facing deportation.

Judge Salas admitted she thought about sparring Teresa jail-time, but believed she needed to send a message. “For a moment, I thought about probation,” Salas said. “For a moment. I need to send a message that it isn’t who you are, how famous you are. If you do something wrong, there will be consequences to pay.” Teresa broke down in tears as she read her statement to Judge Salas just before the decision was made.

“I fully take responsibility for my actions,” she said. “I deeply love my family… My four daughters are my life. I wrote this last night because I knew I was going to be nervous… I’m scared, I’m not going to deny it, I’m really scared. I have heard you. I need to live to do things for myself. It’s time for me to wake up… I will make this right no matter what it takes.”

This is so sad, my thoughts and prayers are with Teresa, her daughters and the rest of the family during this difficult time.
