Kim Richards On Her Sobriety: 'I’m Still Sober And I’m The Happiest I've Ever Been'

During four seasons of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, former child star Kim Richards has struggled with everything from alcoholism to empty-nest syndrome. As she prepares to return for a fifth season of the Bravo hit reality show, Kim talks exclusively to OK! Magazine about her sobriety—and about her daughter's recent wedding.

”I wake up everyday and thank God for this amazing life,” Kim tells OK!. “I’m still sober, and I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”

Kim, who has been open about her struggles with alcohol since entering rehab in 2011, hopes to pay it forward, telling the mag, “One project I’m working on is reaching out to recovery centers and working with addicts.”

Her continued sobriety isn’t the only great thing going in Kim’s life these days. Last month, Kim’s daughter Brooke wed her longtime boyfriend Thayer Wiederhorn, whose family owns the Fatburger chain of restaurants.

Kim approved of the union from the beginning. Last Christmas, when the couple became engaged, she shared a photo of Brooke showing off her ring in front of their tree. She captioned the pic, “What an Amazing Christmas! My Baby Girl is getting MARRIED! & I couldn't ask a for better Son-In-Law! I LOVE YOU BOTH! & Wish you ALL the HAPPINESS in the WORLD!”

Kim says the wedding was “awesome — small and intimate, a fairy-tale wedding. I just cried and cried with joy and pride. I couldn’t stop. I was so happy for her!”

But Kim’s still got one little one who won’t be leaving the nest any time soon - her mischievous dog Kingsley, who was introduced to viewers last season. "I love him so much!" says Kim. Apparently young Kingsley is also growing up. “He was hyper in the beginning, but he’s really mellowed out. We’re a very happy family."
