Video: Danielle Staub Reveals She Was Contemplating Suicide Due To 'The Real Housewives Of New Jersey'

The drama that erupted between The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast in its first season turned Danielle Staub into a reality TV villain. In season one's finale infamous table-flipping scene, Staub's castmates confronted her about her criminal past, including allegations of prostitution and an arrest for extortion.

It's been almost four years since Staub has been on the Real Housewives. Danielle tells Oprah: Where Are They Now? she walked away in 2010 after the public scrutiny became too much for her and her two daughters.

"Unfortunately, there was some really difficult moments which ended up being the turning point for me," she says in the video shown below.

In her darkest moment, Staub says she contemplated suicide.

"It was a weekend I just really didn't want anyone around me," she says. "And I actually asked my children's father if he would take them for a couple of days because I was contemplating killing myself."

"The only reason that I didn't," Staub says, becoming emotional, "is because I would never want that to be the last memory that my kids had of me."

Staub says the dismal thoughts she had when she hit bottom run against what she truly believes. "Live life, be happy always," she says. "Find something positive."
