‘I haven’t exercised in 12 years,’ It's not surprising
that her comments earned sighs from fellow cast mates Lydia Schiavello and
Chyka Keebaugh.‘It makes me sick,’ mutters Chyka. Andrea a former tennis coach,
shrugs. ‘It’s muscle memory. I don’t have a great metabolism, but you know what
it is? I’ve really cut back on carbs.’
‘It’s not fair though,’ presses Chyka, who says she has a
shake every morning for breakfast, goes to the gym three times a week and
visits Liberty Belle ‘at least’ once every fortnight to maintain her looks.
‘This is the thing, when you work – I have two businesses to run and I have three kids – going to the gym is the last thing you want to do,’ says Andrea.
‘When I have time off I want to spend it with the kids.’
‘I’m the complete opposite,’ counters Chyka. ‘I love going
to the gym because when I do it gets my head right. ‘I go early in the morning
because I have older kids and they don’t need me for breakfast. It just gets my
whole day right.’
Jackie Gillies, 30, wife of Silverchair drummer Ben Gillies says she ‘loves to eat’ and is a self-confessed chocolate addict. ‘Do we have any chocolate in the room?’ she asks after mentioning the sweet treat, and even swiveling around in her chair to look for some.
With three children to hubby Andrew Norbury and two step
children, glitzy Lydia Schiavello, 45, has a much more exclusive weight-loss
secret.‘I exercise every weekend throughout winter,’ she says. ‘I go skiing at
our ski house in Thredbo and hopefully that’s enough exercise to last me the
next few months.’
Gina Liano, 47, and Janet Roach, 55, are the two most senior members of the group and their secrets for staying young couldn’t be further apart. ‘I walk several blocks in high heels every day and back comb my hair every morning which has kept my arms toned accidentally,’ says Gina. ‘If you’ve seen my hair you will understand.’
In contrast, Janet is all about the organic lifestyle. ‘I
eat only organic produce from my garden most days when I’m at home,’ she says. ‘I’m
so busy I never sit down, I’m always on my feet, and I used to have five
children all at school or uni and I worked full time in my own business for 14
years. ‘No time for gym or diets when you’re cooking for five hungry
growing teenagers.’ Despite her tiny frame, she adds that she wouldn’t mind
getting buff with ‘weight training’.
‘If anyone is interested in training me, I love to feel strong
and weights are great for keeping your bones strong.’
