Former Real Housewives of D.C. star Michaele Salahi and soon to be husband Neal Schon of the band Journey just released an official press release regarding their Winter Wonderland Wedding, which will be the first ever live Pay-Per-View Wedding and Music Event which will include performances by Journey and special guests. Also portion of the proceeds will go to charity, read the official press release courtesy of PR Newswire below!
Neal, who has called San Francisco
home since he was 10 years old, knew the Palace of Fine Arts
was where he wanted to marry Michaele. Neal explained, "We searched the
world for the perfect location, and finally I said to Michaele, 'San Francisco is my home.
Now it is our home. I want to be married there, in the most beautiful city in
the world, to the woman of my dreams.'" Then, Neal chose one of the most
beautiful and historic venues in San
Francisco for the wedding. "Everyone said they
wouldn't let us have the wedding there, but when our wedding planner took my
passionate plea to the management, they said yes. We couldn't be more
happy!"
The location is just the beginning of the "firsts"
for this dream event, organized by celebrity wedding planner Sharon Sacks,
whose past clients include Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, and Kim Kardashian among
many others. The broadcast marks the first time that a Wedding Event will be
carried LIVE and un-edited on Pay-Per-View.
Said Neal, "We were approached by a few networks
wanting to tape, edit, and then broadcast the wedding as the beginning of a
reality series focusing on our lives together. Ultimately, we thought, 'Hey,
why give up creative control when we can do the whole thing live and share the
wedding and the music directly with our fans, who have been so
incredible!'"
As a founding member and key creative force behind Journey,
one of the most iconic rock bands of all time, Neal felt that he was the best
man for the job. "Everyone at the networks wanted to put their own
creative spin on the event. Michaele and I discussed it, and we decided to hire
a great crew and do the whole thing ourselves because this is really our day.
What's surprising is that no one had ever thought to do anything like this
before we did."
Michaele continued, "Neal and I are always looking to
do all that we can to make a difference in the world, and believe it or not,
our wedding event has given us a perfect opportunity to do just that. A portion
of the proceeds from Pay-Per-View will go directly toward typhoon relief, where
the money is needed most."
Journey will perform at the wedding, and of course all the
music will be broadcast live for fans. In fact, the Journey team has already
contributed $350,000 to typhoon relief efforts. This PPV event allows for the
band, who will be joined by Tower
of Power and other
special musical guests, to make even more of an impact.
Last year, on October 14th, Michaele was honored to work
alongside pro guitar luthier Paul Reed Smith to serve as host for his annual
event JOURNEY OF HOPE, which raises money each year for Johns Hopkins
Kimmel Cancer
Center . Journey was
invited to headline the benefit concert, and Michaele hosted the VIP Fashion
Show and Auction. The event was a resounding success, netting $500,000. And it
was at this event, appropriately enough, that Neal proposed on stage to
Michaele, in front of thousands of people. It is in this spirit that Neal and
Michaele want to invite their fans into their special day.
Neal has said, "Michaele is always a joy to be around.
Everybody loves her. She brings a positive energy everyday, no matter where she
is or who she runs into…That's what she brings-a lot of happiness to everyone.
I see that everyday. It's like a fairy tale, it really is. I'm very happy, very
happy after waiting for her for many years."
Michaele summed it all up, "This is truly my dream
wedding, and I am so excited to share this incredible day with my best friend
and the love of my life. My heart and home is wherever Neal is."
"Neal & Michaele: The Winter Wonderland Wedding and
Music Event" will be hosted by Emmy nominee Debbie Matenopoulos, Emmy
nominee Cameron Mathison, and veteran music, entertainment, and sporting event
host Karyn Bryant, and executive produced by Neal Schon, Brian Ricco, and Peter
Capozzi. It will be broadcast live in HD on Pay-Per-View Sunday, December 15 at
8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT. The event will be available via cable and satellite in
90 million homes. Suggested retail price of the three-hour program is $14.95.
