Jamal Bryant, the ex-husband of Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizelle Bryant, is accused of owing the IRS nearly $800,000 in back taxes.
According to official records obtained by Radar Online, the pastor turned reality star was hit with a federal tax lien by the Internal Revenue Service on March 19.
The document claims Bryant owes a ton of cash for 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2018. The breakdown of the debt is $302,044.14 (2008), $99,427.57 (2010), $132,242.78 (2011), $78,778.20 (2012), $28,039.41 (2014), $49,148 (2016) and $336.55 (2018.)
The grand total of Jamal’s tax debt is $738,524.25. The lien was filed against a property owned by his parents John and Cecilia Bryant own in Baltimore, which is where Jamal is originally from. The lien remains active and has yet to be released by the IRS.
Gizelle was married to Jamal from 2002 until 2009. They rekindled their romance in 2019 but ended their romance due to their long-distance romance amid the pandemic.
In May 2021, Gizelle got candid about her split from the Atlanta-based Pastor. “There’s an update. There’s a plot twist,” she said on The Breakfast Club on May 28 while promoting her podcast, which she co-hosts along with co-star Robyn Dixon. “So, [Jamal and I] were working on us getting back together, and being back together, but he lives in Atlanta I live in Maryland. With the pandemic, we realized it’s just not the right time. It’s just not gonna work.”
“Right now I am footloose and fancy-free. I am single,” she continued. “I am enjoying my hot girl summer, spring, winter, and fall.”
Despite ending their romance, Gizelle made it clear that she and Jamal will always have love for each other. “Jamal will always be in my life. He’s the father to all of my kids,” she explained. “We’ve been together and in each other’s lives [for] 25 years. He is one of my best friends and I to him. I don’t know anyone more than I know a Jamal Bryant.”
