The Real Housewives Of Johannesburg Season 3 Casting News: Find Out Who’s In And Who’s Out!

New casting rumors have emerged about the upcoming third season of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg

While the South African series has been on hiatus after two seasons due to the COVID pandemic and then due to the launch of new series, The Real Housewives of Durban, sources reveal that the series is returning for a third season.

According to Quench SA, most of the cast members are returning for the new season. The outlet also reports that the series will be adding new cast members.

The site makes it clear that one cast member, in particular, is not returning, despite requests by viewers, and that is Evodia "Madam" Mogase.

Also, it's being reported that Zari Hassan is joining RHOJ for the show's third season, according to Mpasho Entertainment News. The 40-year-old socialite and Diamond Platnumz baby mama is set to be the first East African to feature on the show.

The news comes after it was reported in March 2020 that RHOJ was getting a new production team as production company, RHOSA, who is responsible for producing the first two seasons of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg has officially closed its doors. Philly Kubheka, M-Net's senior publicity manager at local productions said the production companies partners' Sonia Mbele, Rebone Sesing and Pebble Gqunta cited irreconcilable differences for closing the company.

However, Kubheka said that the South African reality series, The Real Housewives of Johannesburg will not be affected by the closure as the network sent out a brief for season three and many companies pitched for the 1Magic hit reality series.

In an official statement, Kubheka said the new production company will be announced once the reality show is commissioned.

“The partners sighted irreconcilable differences for closing the company. As channel we ensured that “The Real Housewives of Johannesburg” was not affected by the company shutting down hence we were able to produce a great show for the next season. Season 3 was briefed out and different companies came to pitch. We will announce the production company once the show gets commissioned,” Kubheka told IOL Entertainment in a statement.

According to other reports, Mbele had nothing but kind words for her partners when contacted for comment.

“With any company you start, you do it with the greatest of intentions but, like any bad marriage, when it’s no longer working, you dissolve the marriage and move on.”

The Real Housewives of Johannesburg made its debut in August 2018. The first series consisted of six ladies: Brinnette Seopela, Christall Kay, mother and daughter, Evodia and Mercy Mogase, Lendy Ter Mors, and Naledi Willers. The show also featured Lerika Kleinhans and Olwethu Leshabane, who appeared as the “friends” of the series.

However, the series returned for a second season with a major cast shakeup - Seopela and Kay were the two only original cast members that returned to the series. They were joined by new cast members Lebo JoJo Gunguluza, Lethabo Mathatho, Mpho Merriweather, Mpumi Mophatlane, and Tarina Patel.

In April, Evodia "Madam" and Mercy Mogase got their own spin-off series, the series premiered on Wednesday, April 8 at 8:00pm on Mzansi Magic. However, the series got mixed reviews from viewers, according to IOL Entertainment
