Leah McSweeney Calls Out Ramona Singer For Saying ‘All Lives Matter’ — Ramona Publicly Apologizes; Says “I Wasn’t Educated Enough On The Cause And I’m Sorry”

Leah McSweeney called out Ramona Singer on social media over the weekend. The Real Housewives of New York City star shared a screenshot of Singer telling one of her Instagram followers that “all lives matter” on Sunday, May 31. McSweeney added a facepalm emoji.

Singer has since turned off the comments section on her recent Instagram posts. She subsequently shared a link to a USA Today story with resources, including petitions and places to donate, as thousands of protestors across the country seek justice for George Floyd, who died on May 25 after police officer Derek Chauvin pressed a knee into his neck for more than eight minutes. Chauvin was later charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, reports Us Weekly.

“Please watch this moving video #blacklivesmatter #justiceforgeorgefloyd #enoughisenough,” Singer wrote on Sunday alongside a series of posts related to the Black Lives Matter movement. She then pointed out that she previously posted about Floyd: “(I shared this photo of George Floyd on my story several days ago).”

Ramona then apologized for saying “all lives matter” after the death of Floyd. “I wasn’t educated enough on the cause and I’m sorry,” she wrote in an Instagram comment on Tuesday, June 2, according to Us Weekly.

Singer told fans that she has turned to her 25-year-old daughter, Avery, to learn more about the history of racism in the U.S. as well as the Black Lives Matter movement.

“I am taking the time to educate myself more on this topic and avery shared the documentary with me as well,” Singer responded to another Instagram follower who suggested she watch director Ava DuVernay’s film 13th on Netflix. “She’s been making a list with me.”

Singer participated in “Blackout Tuesday.” “#BlackOutTuesday ‘Darkness cannot drive darkness; Light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; Love can do that.’ – Martin Luther King, Jr.,” Ramona captioned her post on Tuesday, adding the hashtags “#istandwithyou” and “#strongertogether.”

Singer came under fire on Sunday, May 31, after commenting, “All lives matter” on an Instagram post. McSweeney, for her part, went live on Instagram from an NYC protest on Sunday night. She shared a series of social media posts from the protest as well.
