The Real Housewives Franchise Is Officially Expanding In South Africa — The Real Housewives Of Durban Season 1 Premieres On January 29 On 1Magic!

The Real Housewives franchise is officially expanding in South Africa to Durban following the success of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg. The Real Housewives of Durban is set to premiere next month on 1Magic.

A screenshot of an advert was shared by fans on social media. According to the advert, The Real Housewives of Durban will premiere on Friday, January 29 at 7:00pm. The ad includes the official six ladies who will appear in the upcoming new series.

However, at this time, the network has not officially shared the identities of the six ladies.

Meanwhile, the network confirmed that the series is set to premiere in January 2021 via their official press release. "And all the speculation is true: The Real Housewives Of Durban S1 starts Friday, 8 January on 1Magic (DStv 103) at 21:30," the page read.

In March 2020, we reported via All4Women that Phil Mphela, who is a reliable entertainment journalist, first shared the news on Twitter.

“WORD IS: Real Housewives of Durban coming soon,” he tweeted. “The murmur is that, following the success of the Joburg seasons, the company behind the local production of this Bravo franchise is now expanding the show to Durban. I love the idea. I’m in.”

The Real Housewives of Durban is coming following the success of The Real Housewives of Johannesburg, which is currently on hiatus.

The Real Housewives of Johannesburg made its debut in August 2018. The first series consisted of six ladies: Brinnette Seopela, Christall Kay, mother and daughter, Evodia and Mercy Mogase, Lendy Ter Mors, and Naledi Willers.

However, the series returned for a second season with a major cast shakeup - Seopela and Kay were the two only original cast members that returned to the series. They were joined by new cast members Lebo JoJo Gunguluza, Lethabo Mathatho, Mpho Merriweather, Mpumi Mophatlane, and Tarina Patel.
