Gina Kirschenheiter Reveals Why She Decided To Share Her Ex-Husband Matt’s Affair On RHOC And Gushes About Her New Relationship With Boyfriend Travis Mullen; Says “I’m Really Happy Right Now”

Gina Kirschenheiter is spilling all the tea about her new relationship with Travis Mullen. However, the Real Housewives of Orange County star reveals why she decided to come clean and share her ex-husband Matt's affair on the current season of the Bravo hit reality series.

"I think that it was the right thing to do because I truly feel like keeping all of these secrets in regarding my personal life, it was killing me, it was breaking me down. I couldn’t share anything with my friends, with my family — my friends on the show, my friends off the show," she told Decider about why she deiced to talk about her ex-husband's affair on the show.

"I’m a person who just protects that part of my life. I felt like I was protecting my kids, but then ultimately, it was like if this is really what’s happening, then there’s nothing you can do to protect that, so I’m doing the best with what’s at hand."

"And I never would even have shared, because what had happened with Matt and this other woman happened before I was on the show. So when I signed up for the show, I was like, ‘I don’t feel like I’m a desperate person who has to come on this show and start airing all of my dirty laundry just to stay on the show.’ Then, it came back into my life and I was like, you know what, I can do a lot of stuff, I can protect you as much as I can, but I will not be asked, “Oh, is Matt dating someone?” and say “Oh, he has a lovely new girlfriend!” I’m not gonna do it, this is where I draw the line! And I was so upset," she explained. "It happened the day before, I think, Tamra’s housewarming party, I found that card. And I see it in my face at that party, I was like a zombie. Looking back at it now, I feel like I did the right thing because I can see myself sinking away and I wouldn’t have made it through this season, I wouldn’t have been able to fake my way through it."

When asked if she would have handled last season differently regarding her situation with the father of her three kids, Gina said: "No. I think I knew going into it, and then watching it back, I’m like ‘I understand why people don’t fully understand, and I understand that I actually look kind of stupid in this little box, in that one category,’ and I was okay with that. I would rather take that one hit and feel like I was protecting my kids and protecting something nobody needed to know, rather than expose all of it just to look like I’m a better person, you know? I wasn’t gonna do it. And I don’t regret sharing it this season, although it’s really hard. I do feel like the feedback that I’ve gotten from a lot of women helps me get through everything."

Gina then gushed about her new relationship with Travis Mullen, which she confirmed on Instagram earlier this month. "I would say that I’m really happy right now, and I think I’m on the other side of the bad and hopefully it just keeps going and we keep seeing where things lead," she told Decider.
